Rewards for Recycling

photo: Chris Lawton How do you train people to adopt good habits? The training usually begins within our family and circle of friends. It then continues through formal education or home-schooling and the media. And at last, it becomes a well established habit that comes to us naturally. So why is it that the government OR other private companies here in Greece haven't yet thought of rewarding good behavior(s)? Like coming up with a system of reward every time a citizen recycles their rubbish...? Some companies abroad would "die" for the opportunity to take rubbish for a small amount of money, reward points or some other small gift or exchange! Here, in (third-world country) Greece, "they" take our rubbish for FREE! The most infuriating thing of all is that  we "give" it away WILLINGLY! Isn't that something?! What a feat!

Life Expectancy

photo: PaelmerPhotoArts In 2019, Greek pensioners are going to see their pensions and yearly earnings greatly reduced. Cut, if you will. All this thanks to prior Minister of Finance, Giorgos Katrougalos . Also, there are many government-oriented and austerity-friendly reporters who support these ominous measures which are taken with obscene  articles . In general, the above article states that life expectancy in Greece is going to rise higher. Simply put, people will live longer. Dah?! This contradicts the findings and news announcements of the World Health Organization (WHO): Global cancer rates could increase by 50% to 15 million by 2020 key factors about cancer This in simple terms means that the reporters are LYING.  Therefore, the Greek government expects to  raise the "minimum" age at which workers can retire AND also have them receive (almost) half of what they are now receiving in earnings -- regardless of the amount of years th

Social Welfare in Greece

image by: Una Laurencic Today's discussion will open with a hot subject --- that of social welfare! Greece is among the countries that doesn't put any value in human life -- the young and old age specifically.. There are many opportunities for private companies who are searching for opportunities in the greek markets. These opportunities include the setup of orphanages and/or nursing homes for the elder. So many people here in Greece are committing suicide each day.. and many others commit homicides. Moreover, more and more young women are either resorting to abortion or are killing and abandoning their infants. This is a reality that is not mentioned in the greek (big business) media (newspapers, tv channels) .. It seems that Greece is not only in the need of political and economic reform, but also a wide social reform. It's time to change mindset and take care of the people!

Artificial Intelligence.. and the Eye In the Sky

image by: Pixabay Nowadays it is not weird to watch people talking to their phones and devices. Today's people are multi-taskers and online almost all of the time. They communicate with their colleagues, their family, friends, bosses, neighbors, etc. Constant and floating communication has become part of everyday life. Add in the mixture the arrival of A.I. (artificial intelligence) and things become even more complicated! AI holds a great promise for everyone. Imagine talking to your device to find about whatever you want or learn things on the go. No need to visit endless websites or even bother search for something online. Your personal assistant will help you through. Online reservations, finding your favorite lyrics to a song you like, reminders to take your medicine, reports about the weather, instant messaging with the help of your voice, map-guiding, instructions to make or craft anything you put your mind on ..and what more! Seems like sci-fi movi

China Sets Up a System of Social Credit Score

image: Tofros.com Recently China has experimented with a new system that rewards or punishes a person according to their social profile. This promotes the idea of social listing and profiling and helps make people fall into categories. It is a great way to reward desirable beliefs or habits or social feats! You can be rewarded for social work, volunteering, a genius idea, etc But on the downside you can also be punished! The punishment includes not only a subtraction of (social) points but also a restriction from .. LET'S SAY taking a flight for a specific length of time or a prohibition to visit a specific region/destination. This is a system of mild reform for people with criminal tendencies or a tendency for extremities of all kinds. It's a bit early though to fathom the full depth of the possible ramifications of this initiative.
