Is it valid to speak about Human Rights?

photo: Porapak Apichodilok Nowadays many people get out on the streets and join massive protests about their rights. The most fundamental rights of them all are their Human Rights. But, is it valid to speak about human rights? Why yes or why not? Why are so many human rights getting usurped and violated everyday? Why are Human Rights being fought for with so much vigor and so many wonderful things are being said about them? Why do so many disgraceful acts and laws happen in the name of a such a good "thing"? I think I know why.  The reason is that so many people are not considered actual humans anymore. When you have foreign agents (which are foreign to the body but unrecognizable to it) that are artificial and that settle permanently in your body and/or organs and/or brain, then you are not human anymore. You are either considered a cyborg or a robot. These foreign agents get through the body and pass through the brain-blood barrier in many ways. Look it up your...

Thought Crime Police

photo: Oleg Magni Thought Crime policing is already here! And it takes place through downloaded apps and everyday use technological gadgets. As one can guess, the most heavily used ones in our everyday life are mobile phones. A month ago I downloaded an instant messaging application from Google Play. Needless to say that I I haven't tried it out -- yet. But, when I was performing the usual disc cleanup, free space enhancements and cache refreshing I stumbled upon the app's pbk file and the title was: thoughtcrime ... If that doesn't mean anything to you then I don't know what does. Simply stated this means that it's not even necessary to put effort in writing and conversing with others. It's more than enough to have this app downloaded on your phone "reading" your thoughts and spying on your moves (your likes, dislikes, favorite ads, most visited sites, causes of interest, etc) I think it's time to go watch the "Minority Report...

Universal Basic Income (UBI)

photo: Skitterphoto The World Economic Forum and many other mainstream media and reknown organizations mention the UBI. Some countries are in the implementation stage and many "tests" are taking place around the globe. However, it's everyone's guessing why UBI hasn't changed a thing and has in fact created more problems along the way. Take Greece for example. A similar program was introduced in late 2016 in which very poor people would benefit by making a simple petition, sending some proving papers to the municipality or the service responsible and then be granted a fixed amount of money every month. Why I am against this UBI or whatever it is called and all of its variations? At first it sounds very utopian! How nice to help out the poor, the needy, the disabled, the unemployed! But do you know how they are being helped out? Not by a fair re-distribution of wealth and money and resources but by impoverishing the rest of the population. Those who sti...

Fake Food

photo: Sydney Troxell Food is not only a pleasurable pastime for many people. It is necessary for survival. It is mandatory that people eat food in order to survive. But, what are WE eating , really?! Have you ever wondered under which category most super-market and grocery store products fall under? Are they.. 1. organically (naturally) produced? 2. are they genetically mutated? 3. are they totally man-made? Unfortunately, fake food is a new reality. We apologize for the rude awakening. However, it is better to be forewarned! Wrong lifestyles and inappropriate food consumption leads more and more people to sickness and low immunity to diseases, etc

Drone Issue

photo: pexels.com Not long ago there was a colonel salute on the tv news here in Greece. But, the most strange thing is that the news reporter recorded a flying drone over the soldiers' heads. Who was/were its owners? Were they licenced? And if not, why are they flying over military bases and barracks without a permission?

D-Wave Systems

photo: Julius Silver Lately, it's very likely that every other day one stumbles upon articles about technology, AI and such matters. Little is mentioned about quantum computing, though. What is quantum computing? It is what the terminology includes and stands for. Computing based on quanta and quantum energy -- meaning small packets of energy which can be either absorbed or radiated. Gone are the days when computers used to depend on algorithms and standard methods of analysis and straightforward, linear, mechanical computing. Now, there are other ways by which a computer can reach to an answer or a conclusion/deduction other than (linear) calculations. Imagine a whole new world of endless possibilities lying ahead especially if we were to combine this new kind of technology with artificial intelligence and green, renewable resources of (powering) energy (e.g. sunlight, geothermal energy). Facebook makes use of D-wave quantum computers. These computers are ex...

Rewards for Recycling

photo: Chris Lawton How do you train people to adopt good habits? The training usually begins within our family and circle of friends. It then continues through formal education or home-schooling and the media. And at last, it becomes a well established habit that comes to us naturally. So why is it that the government OR other private companies here in Greece haven't yet thought of rewarding good behavior(s)? Like coming up with a system of reward every time a citizen recycles their rubbish...? Some companies abroad would "die" for the opportunity to take rubbish for a small amount of money, reward points or some other small gift or exchange! Here, in (third-world country) Greece, "they" take our rubbish for FREE! The most infuriating thing of all is that  we "give" it away WILLINGLY! Isn't that something?! What a feat!

Life Expectancy

photo: PaelmerPhotoArts In 2019, Greek pensioners are going to see their pensions and yearly earnings greatly reduced. Cut, if you will. All this thanks to prior Minister of Finance, Giorgos Katrougalos . Also, there are many government-oriented and austerity-friendly reporters who support these ominous measures which are taken with obscene  articles . In general, the above article states that life expectancy in Greece is going to rise higher. Simply put, people will live longer. Dah?! This contradicts the findings and news announcements of the World Health Organization (WHO): Global cancer rates could increase by 50% to 15 million by 2020 key factors about cancer This in simple terms means that the reporters are LYING.  Therefore, the Greek government expects to  raise the "minimum" age at which workers can retire AND also have them receive (almost) half of what they are now receiving in earnings -- regardless of the amou...

Social Welfare in Greece

image by: Una Laurencic Today's discussion will open with a hot subject --- that of social welfare! Greece is among the countries that doesn't put any value in human life -- the young and old age specifically.. There are many opportunities for private companies who are searching for opportunities in the greek markets. These opportunities include the setup of orphanages and/or nursing homes for the elder. So many people here in Greece are committing suicide each day.. and many others commit homicides. Moreover, more and more young women are either resorting to abortion or are killing and abandoning their infants. This is a reality that is not mentioned in the greek (big business) media (newspapers, tv channels) .. It seems that Greece is not only in the need of political and economic reform, but also a wide social reform. It's time to change mindset and take care of the people!

Artificial Intelligence.. and the Eye In the Sky

image by: Pixabay Nowadays it is not weird to watch people talking to their phones and devices. Today's people are multi-taskers and online almost all of the time. They communicate with their colleagues, their family, friends, bosses, neighbors, etc. Constant and floating communication has become part of everyday life. Add in the mixture the arrival of A.I. (artificial intelligence) and things become even more complicated! AI holds a great promise for everyone. Imagine talking to your device to find about whatever you want or learn things on the go. No need to visit endless websites or even bother search for something online. Your personal assistant will help you through. Online reservations, finding your favorite lyrics to a song you like, reminders to take your medicine, reports about the weather, instant messaging with the help of your voice, map-guiding, instructions to make or craft anything you put your mind on ..and what more! Seems like sci-fi movi...

China Sets Up a System of Social Credit Score

image: Tofros.com Recently China has experimented with a new system that rewards or punishes a person according to their social profile. This promotes the idea of social listing and profiling and helps make people fall into categories. It is a great way to reward desirable beliefs or habits or social feats! You can be rewarded for social work, volunteering, a genius idea, etc But on the downside you can also be punished! The punishment includes not only a subtraction of (social) points but also a restriction from .. LET'S SAY taking a flight for a specific length of time or a prohibition to visit a specific region/destination. This is a system of mild reform for people with criminal tendencies or a tendency for extremities of all kinds. It's a bit early though to fathom the full depth of the possible ramifications of this initiative.
